Mrs. Irene Gayle

Mrs. Irene Gayle, 87, passed away Thursday, April 26th in League City. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, April 29th at Nobles Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in Oakland Cemetery. Rev. Steve Yates will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Irene was born January 7, 1931 to Henry Schroeder, Jr., and Clara Pistler Schroeder. She was raised in the Anderson Richards area of Grimes County. She married Cecil Gayle on June 10, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson. The newly married couple made their home in Navasota and together they had three children. They lived in Navasota until 1971 when she and her husband moved the family to Conroe as part of a GSU (Entergy) employee relocation effort. She remained in Conroe until 2013 when she moved to League City to live with her daughter.

Irene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and James Glover of League City; son and daughter-in-law Larry and Mary Gayle of Irving; grandchildren RoseAnne Layton and husband Doug of Houston; Clint Gayle of Hearne, Chad Gayle and wife Tiffany of Grand Prairie, Michael Glover and wife Irma of Houston, and Melissa Tanksley and husband Josh of Bastrop, LA; and great-grandchildren Madelyn Glover, Peyton Tanksley, Korrinne Layton and Kolby Layton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Cecil Gayle and son Curtis Gayle.
