Mrs. Jo Lynn Foote

Jo Lynn Foote, 85, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 9, 2015. Visitation with the family will be Monday, October 12 from 1:00-3:00pm at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm with the Rev. Clyde Larrabee officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Born on December 20, 1929 in Brenham to Alvin and Minnie Inglehart, Jo Lynn was the youngest of five children. Raised in Navasota, Jo Lynn was valedictorian of Navasota High School and graduated from Rice Institute (now Rice University), where she was head drum majorette. In addition to being the loving mother of three, she was an accountant and office manager. Following time spent in Houston, California, Venezuela, Louisiana, Virginia, Las Vegas, and Corpus Christi, Jo Lynn and geophysicist husband Richard (Dick) Foote returned to Navasota to retire.

Jo Lynn is preceded in death by her husband Richard Foote, sister Marguerite Sherbel and husband Alfred, sister Mozelle Rohmerts and husband Joe, brother Kiefer Inglehart and wife Pauline, and brother Andy Inglehart and wife Connie. Survivors include her son Michael (Mike) Dunigan, daughter Jan and husband Kurt Richter, and daughter Jill Foote. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren include grandson Casey Dunigan, wife Yamilis, daughter Frances, and son Jaydan; grandson Jason Richter, wife Courtney, and daughter Charlotte; grandson Shane Dunigan and daughter Melrose; grandson John Richter; and grandson James Richter.

Jo Lynn was known for her generosity, especially in giving her time and attention to the care of her family, friends, and those less fortunate; for example, she taught several adults to read. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Navasota and had many life-long friends; Jo Lynn particularly enjoyed 20+ years of an annual “slumber party” weekends with her high school girlfriends. She spent the last 2.5 years of her life at Clarewood House in Houston, where she will be remembered for her sweet and nurturing nature.

In lieu of flowers, the family graciously suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Navasota, 301 Church Street, Navasota, TX 77868.
