Mr. Augustin "Santos" Acosta

Mr. Augustin “Santos” Acosta, 91, of Navasota, passed away Thursday, March 12th at his residence. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, Monday, March 16th at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of his life will held on Tuesday, March 17th at 2:00pm, also at the funeral home with Rev. Henry Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Santos was born on March 20, 1923 in Shiro, Texas to Thomas and Paula (Ponce) Acosta. He married Aurelia Arispe and together they raised nine children. He provided for his large family by landscaping for a living.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Flora and Ernest Cantu of Navasota, and Vickie and Gilbert Estrada of Houston; sons and daughters-in-law Salvador and Yolanda Ledesma of LaPorte, Bruno and Sylvia Acosta of Houston, Augustin and Emida Acosta of Houston, Juan and Brenda Acosta of Navasota and Felix Acosta of Houston; sister-in law Simona Arispe Fonseca of Houston; sister-in-law Santo Acosta of Bryan; 49 grandchildren, 120 great-grandchildren and 47 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Aurelia Arispe Acosta, daughters Alice Mosqueda and Sylvia Orozco, and grandsons Jesse Cantu and Thomas Joe Acosta.
Serving as pallbearers are Mark Anthony Cruz, Fernando Augustine Acosta, Felix Acosta, Jr., and John Acosta, all of Houston; Joel Orozco, Tommy Garza and Augustin Acosta, III., all of Navasota and Manuel Prado of Bryan.
