Mr. Ben Maurice Shead

Ben Maurice Shead, 88, of Richards died at The Sheridan of Navasota on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. Visitation will be Saturday, May 17th from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 18th at 2:00pm at Richards Baptist Church with interment to follow in Bays Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Saffle, Rev David Saffle and Rev. Reagan Cooksey will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Ben Maurice was born in Grimes County on March 24, 1926, the son of George David Shead and Lizzie Elizabeth (Barrett) Shead. Together, they raised two sons.
Mr. Shead is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Sarah Shead of Richards and Roger and Jeannine Shead of Richards; twin sister, Maurine Patterson of Anderson; grandchildren Amy & Shawn King and Bradley Shead, also of Richards; step-grandchildren, Lisa Martinez of Spring, Roy Hibner of San Angelo, Kelly Noack of Willis, and Ronnie Hibner of Anderson; and two great grandchildren, Sloan and Stetson King.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Annie Isabell Shead; sisters, Mildred Boggess and Louise Spadachene; and brothers, John and Emory Shead and Randolph Webb.
Serving as pallbearers are Bradley Shead, Shawn King, Larry Graves and Bobby Smith, all of Richards, David Patterson of Montgomery and Woody Patterson of Houston. Honorary pallbearers are Sloan and Stetson King. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider leaving a memorial offering to Richards Baptist Church or Bays Chapel Cemetery Association.
