Charles Davis, 69, of Carlos, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008, at his residence.
Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Martins Prairie Missionary Baptist Church in Keith, with Mitchell Beene officiating. Interment followed in Martins Prairie Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Charles was born in Marshall, TX on August 4, 1938, the son of Gordon and Ruthie Mae (Kale) Davis.
He was actively involved in the Orphan's Friend #17 Masonic Lodge and served in the U.S. Navy for over 20 years.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, June Davis of Carlos; his daughter Rhoda Davis of Louisiana; stepdaughters and sons-in-law Ricki Parker of Dickinson, Rhonda and Mike Duke of Brazoria, Robbie and Donald McCleney of Carlos; son Wayne Davis of Louisiana; stepson Ronald McCleney of Angleton; sisters and brothers-in-law Helen and Ken Garwood of Illinois, Louise and Steve Foster of Marshall, Evelyn Davis of Longview and Barbara Davis of Marshall; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Michael Duke of Brazoria, Carl Meuth of Jones Creek, Mitchell Peltier of West Columbia, Sam Frazier of La Porte, Ronald McCleney of Angleton and Donald McCleney of Carlos.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Martins Prairie Cemetery.
