Mrs. Dorothy Gast

Mrs. Dorothy (Kurtz) Gast, 84, passed away Friday, September 4th at her home in Bryan. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Monday, September 7th at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Rev. Edward Kucera will conduct a funeral Mass celebrating her life at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, September 8th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stoneham. Rite of Committal will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Dorothy was born January 27, 1936 in Henkhaus, Texas to William B. and Josephine (Michalec) Kurtz. She attended Evergreen School and graduated from Moulton High School in 1954. She married David G. Gast on October 23, 1954 and together they raised three daughters. Dorothy loved to can the vegetables that her husband grew in his garden. She also worked full time and retired in January, 1997.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Diane and Mike O’Dell of Montgomery, Donna and Dennis Zatopek of Bryan and Debbie and Don LaFitte of Iola; two granddaughters, Ashleigh O’Dell Davis and husband Randall and Deena LaFiitte McClure and husband, Norman; two step-grandchildren, Ken LaFitte and wife, Mary and Linda Nelson and husband, Mike; ten great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband David G. Gast; five sisters and five brothers.
