Mrs. Dorothy "Gran" Martin Williams
October 1, 1925 — January 2, 2021
Dorothy Martin “Gran” Williams went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 2nd, passing away peacefully in her sleep.
Dorothy was born on October 1, 1925, on her family’s farm at Castor, Louisiana, where she grew up with seven sisters and a brother. She graduated from Castor High School and went on to work at Western Union in Brooklyn, NY, during World War II. Shortly after the war, she married the love of her life, Edward Williams in 1947 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
She served faithfully as a loving and kind pastors wife, Sunday school teacher, church secretary, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved God’s Word and read it each day. Dorothy was a woman of prayer and had special days of the week to pray for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At her death, her son found her Bible in her bed beside her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Williams and her daughter, Rebecca Taylor. She is survived by her son, Michael Williams and wife Melinda of Bryan, Texas; her sister, Lillian Bailey of Burleson, Texas; her son-in-law, Michael Taylor of Temple, Texas; her grandchildren: Sarah Grace Willy and husband David of Athens, Texas; Hannah Hill and husband Patrick of Nocona, Texas; Rebekah Holloway and husband James of Round Rock, Texas; Clint French and wife Kori of Felicia, Texas; Ben Taylor and wife Kelsey of Temple, Texas; Jonathan Taylor and wife Brooke of Temple, Texas.
She dearly loved her 13 great-grandchildren: Gideon, Josiah, Anna, Isaac, Abby, Susannah, Pete, Joey, John Collier, Jillian, Vivian, Trent, and Rhett.
A memorial service honoring her life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution in her name to a cause dear to her heart, The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering of the International Mission Board. This can be easily accomplished by going to the International Mission Board website at www.imb.org or donations can be forwarded to Northview Baptist Church, 1809 Tabor Road, Bryan, TX 77803 and they will be forwarded appropriately.
