Mr. Edward Fletcher

July 9, 1943 — September 16, 2018

Mr. Edward Fletcher, 75 of Navasota, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 16th at his home. A memorial service is planned for 12:00pm, Saturday, October 13th at the Parish Hall of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Edward was born July 9, 1943 in Georgetown, Texas to Arnold and Fern (Farr) Fletcher. He joined the U. S. Army and proudly served his country. He was a Vietnam Veteran. He returned stateside and attended the University of Houston, earning a degree in business administration. Edward married the love of his life, Dorothy “Annie” Silvas, on July 11, 1970 and together they raised two wonderful children. He was employed at Sam White Oldsmobile for over 30 years during which time he started his own company. He retired from both and then worked at Universal Technical Institute for 15 years. Vowing that he would seriously retire this time, he and Annie moved to the country, where he was happiest on his land where he could farm, fish and visit with family and friends. Never one to stay idle too long, Edward was active in local government and filled his time volunteering on boards and committees. He was most passionate about his family and was the rock that everyone turned to for strength, help or advice. His many nieces and nephews were very close to his heart. Edward had a great love for music, particularly Texas singer/songwriters. He enjoyed sharing this passion with his family and friends. Perhaps most of all, he loved spending time with his grandson, Miles… going on adventures, teaching him things and watching him participate in sports, no matter the time, location or weather; he was his biggest fan!

Edward is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy “Annie” Fletcher of Navasota; son William Fletcher of Dallas; daughter Deborah Fleming of Houston and grandson Miles Fleming of Houston.

Mr. Fletcher was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Fern Fletcher, sister Carol McDaniel, and brother James Fletcher.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution in his name be made to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030.
