Erma (Hemann) Wehmeier, 86, of Navasota, Texas, passed from this earth on Saturday, May 18, 2013, surrounded by her family at her home. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm on Monday, May 20th at Nobles Funeral Chapel, Navasota, TX. The funeral service will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, May 21st from Trinity Lutheran Church, Navasota, TX. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Navasota.
Erma was born on September 20, 1926, to Gus and Wanda Voelter Hemann in White Hall, Texas. She was baptized October 10, 1926, at Salem Lutheran Church in White Hall and confirmed there on March 17, 1940.
Erma married Ervin Wehmeier on June 12, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Navasota. From this union, two daughters were born, Sandra and Janice. Erma and Ervin were lifelong members of Trinity and participated in various church activities and raised their family in the Lutheran faith. Erma worked in banking for 37 years at First National Bank of Navasota before retiring in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Wanda Voelter Hemann, and her husband, Ervin Wehmeier in 1989. Also preceding her were her sisters-in-law Edna Wehmeier and Adeline Fritsche.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sandra Wehmeier Briers, and husband, Gary, of College Station, TX and Janice Wehmeier Cravey of Navasota; five grandchildren–Scott Briers and wife, Dana, of Conroe, TX; Leslie Briers Fox and husband, Leo, of Frisco, TX; Leigh Anne Cravey Fultz of Navasota, TX; David Cravey of Austin, TX; and Todd Cravey of Navasota; and five great grandchildren–Catherine and Gabriel Briers, Sara and Ethan Fox, and Jadyn Fultz. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lillian Shimshack, of White Hall, TX, and many more relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Shimshack, Richard Shimshack, Mark Shimshack, Stanley Kettler and Tommy Voelter of Navasota, Stanley Fritsche of Houston, and Arthur (Bill) Kaspar of Bryan. Honorary pallbearers are Benton Dedmon of Navasota and Martin Wehmeier, Jr. of Houston.
Special thanks go to her special caregivers—Lillian Dobyanski, Velma Floyd and Sheila Holloway who were her companions over the last few years—and especially to Dr. C. H. Prihoda who provided medical care, assistance and friendship over the years.
