Eva Yvonne (Rigby) Rampmeier

January 19, 1943 — July 4, 2022

On Monday the fourth of July, 2022, Eva Yvonne (Rigby) Rampmeier passed away peacefully. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Thursday, July 7th at Nobles Funeral Chapel, located at 402 E. Blackshear, Navasota, Texas. A funeral service celebrating her life will begin at 10:30 am, Friday July 8th at First Baptist Church in Shiro, Texas, followed by interment in Independence Cemetery, also in Shiro. Rev. Jay Kott will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Eva Yvonne Rigby Rampmeier, called “Yvonne” by many, was born in Navasota, Texas on January 19, 1943 to Van Hulon Rigby and Eva Mae Venable and grew up in both Houston and Shiro, Texas.

She was a proud graduate of the Navasota High School Class of 1961. Yvonne attended Sam Houston State University and graduated in 1964 with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She was the first of her family to graduate from college and this very much pleased her father and her grandfather, Eli Van “Toosie” Rigby. Yvonne attended church for most of her life at Shiro Baptist Church. It was here that she was baptized, taught Vacation Bible School and was married in 1964. When not raising her three daughters, Yvonne’s passions were for art, gardening and for spending time with family.

Yvonne’s calling was to teach. For over 25 years she helped formed the minds of primarily elementary aged children, beginning in a humble little schoolhouse in Shiro which housed all grades taught by one teacher, to the very large Aldine School District in Houston, Midway ISD (Woodway Elementary) in Waco, Texas and at Southwood Valley Elementary in College Station at the elementary level. She worked with many student teachers at Baylor University and assisted in writing a handbook for supervising student teachers. She once wrote that “her love of teaching could not be explained except in the sound of a child’s laughter or the look in a child’s eyes when they experienced success”. She believed that each child “should feel special and know that they were loved”.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; former brother-in law Kenneth Rampmeier and sister-in-law Janice Rampmeier.

She is survived by her brother, Van Hulon Rigby II and wife, Pat Rigby and three
daughters: Gina Rampmeier Andrie and husband George Andrie, Kristina Rampmeier Borland and husband Huntor Borland, and Suzanne Rampmeier Risinger and husband Brian Risinger. Also surviving Yvonne is her former sisters-in-law, Norma Rampmeier and Carolyn Rampmeier and by Yvonne’s beloved grandchildren: Elizabeth Alayne Andrie Burr (husband Dr. Tyler J. Burr), Kathleen Arin Andrie Kucera (husband Jackson Kucera), George William Andrie, Jonathon Scott Borland, Jacob Carl Risinger, Sarah Janea Borland and Eli Samuel Risinger. Yvonne is also survived by nephews Van Hulon Rigby, III (wife, Rachel) and Keith Rampmeier and by her niece, Cara Rampmeier Dudley (husband, David), as well as many beloved cousins and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are George Willam Andrie, Jonathon Scott Borland, Jacob Carl Risinger, Eli Samuel Risinger, Van Hulon Rigby III, Jackson Kucera, and Dr. Tyler Burr.
