Mrs. Frances Flores

Mrs. Frances Flores, (formerly of Navasota) 80 of Iola, passed away Tuesday, May 5th, at CHI St. Joseph Regional Health Center. Visitation with family and friends will be held Saturday, May 9th from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 30th at the family ranch, 9355 Panther Creek Road, Iola, Texas. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Frances was born in Weslaco, Texas on December 3, 1939 to Cenobio and Eloisa (Berrones) Escalon. She married Joe D. Flores in Navasota on August 29, 1959. Frances had a servants heart and a strong faith in her Lord. It was this that led her into a life-long career in nursing. She worked for Dr. Leonard Coleman as his surgical nurse for 20 years, followed by 27 years as Dr. C. H. Prihoda's nurse. She loved to cook, and family and friends flocked to her home to feast on her delicious meals. She was a very lively, outgoing woman who loved people and never met a stranger. Her biggest joy and source of pride was her family. A "hands on" mother and grandmother. Her children remember her as a mother who was selfless, loving, encouraging and always present. She enjoyed having the grandchildren in the kitchen with her learning to cook, or outdoors teaching them to fish or working out in the yard with her in her flower beds. An avid shopper, Frances would even take them on her latest shopping excursion. She also enjoyed traveling and would do so whenever the opportunity allowed her to.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Flores, Sr.; sons Joe Flores, Jr., and wife Susie and Ray Flores and wife Beatrice; daughters Alicia Flores Lohmann and wife Candy Mountain and Susan Fiore and husband Tim; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Polly Garcia and husband Joe, Annie Trujillo and husband Paul and Lily Hernandez and husband Ruben, Edward Flores and wife Janie; grandchildren Joseph, Benjamin and Jonathan Flores, Jennifer Delgado, Jeremy, Michael and Rachel Flores, Erica Lohmann, Victoria Garcia, Thomas Lohmann, Nicholas Garcia, Madelyn and Zachary Mountain and Amanda Fiore; great-grandchildren Aveda, Ethan, Catalena, Henry and Daniella and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gonzalo Escalon.
