Mr. Gus Allen Heinrich

September 20, 1929 — February 25, 2014

Gus Allen Heinrich, 85, passed peacefully from this life the evening of February 25, 2014 after a rapid decline in health. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caregivers during the last days of his life.
Family and friends are invited to share memories at the visitation 5:30 – 7:30 on Friday, February 28th at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:00am at Nobles Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Zion Cemetery in Iola. Pastor Larry Spooner and Chaplain Olivia Hodges will officiate.
Gus was born in Marlin, Texas on September 20, 1929. He served his country during the Korean War in the US Coast Guard. Upon returning to civilian life, he lived and raised his family in the Houston/Cypress areas. He was partner/owner of Texas Woodwork in Houston for over 20 years. He love the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. In 1985, after raising his daughter and son, Gus and his wife Ivene, retired and moved to Iola where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a kind, soft spoken man, with a keen sense of humor and would help anyone at any time. He will be greatly missed by many. Gus was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Iola and a lifetime member of VFW Post 4006 in Navasota.
Gus is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marjorie Ivene (Park); his son and best friend, Mark Allen Heinrich of Iola; daughter Cynthia Johanna (Cyndy) Thompson and husband Mark of Cypress; granddaughter Kristin Thompson of Friendswood; godchildren Debra Jean Schimming Bedsole, Darlene Schimming Chance, Laurie Plagens and Tommie Percival. He was preceded in death by his parents.
