Mr. James "Smiley" Keyser

Mr. James “Smiley” Keyser, 66, of Plantersville, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at his residence. Visitation with the family will be Friday, March 28, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stoneham. A rosary will follow visitation at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be Saturday, March 29th at 2:00pm, also at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Ed Kucera will be the Celebrant. Rite of Commital will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Serving as pallbearers are Rayburn Imhoff, Mike Wetuski, Will Keyser and Thomas Smith, all of Plantersville, Billy Bailey of Richards, Keith Grant of Magnolia, Loren Joy of Huntsville and Wayne Smith of Tomball.
Smiley was born on June 28, 1947 in Plantersville to Robert and Otilla (Smith) Keyser. He married Ella Louise Luthe in 1968 and together they had four children. He loved fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and hunting. He owned and operated Keyser Dozer Works for many years. He is perhaps best known for his homemade French fries and chicken soup and was one of the lead cooks for the annual St. Joseph Bazaar.
Mr. Keyser is survived by his wife, Ella Keyser; sons David and wife Amber Ward and Michael Keyser, of Plantersville; his daughters and sons-in-law Cindy & David Ballew of Plantersville and Nicole & Scott Massey of Sweetwater; brother and sisters-in-law Willie & JoAnn Keyser of Plantersville and Cynthia Luthe of Plantersville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Curtis & Donna Luthe of Plantersville, Bobby & Carolyn Luthe of Magnolia and Barney Luthe, Jr., of San Antonio; grandchildren Lisha Marshburn, Dustin Keyser, Boo Boo Ballew, Lacy Rudel, Tucker Keyser, Sadie Keyser, Briley Keyser, Brandie Brocato and Kimbra Moon; great grandchildren Chelsie Marshburn, Saige Marshburn, Lily Marshburn, Russell Ballew, Tristen Ballew, Victoria Ballew, Mason Rudel, Ryder Ballew and Clara Moon, Amelia Brocato, Luke Brocato.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
