Mr. James “Jim” Hamlin Schwede, 90, of Anderson, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at his residence. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00pm at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, August 18th at 10:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Navasota with interment in the Oddfellows Cemetery in Anderson. The Rev. Matthias J. Dinger will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
James was born in Farwell, Texas on March 11, 1924, the son of Fred and Jessica (Toliver) Schwede. He joined the U. S. Army Air Corp in 1943 and proudly served his country until 1946. He married Lorene B. Boehme on January 11, 1947 in Anderson, Texas. Together, they raised two sons and a daughter. Mr. Schwede was employed as an instructor for the Physics department at Texas A&M University for over 20 years. He was a farmer and rancher and loved tending to his cattle, hunting and fishing. James and his wife, Lorene, travelled extensively together throughout their marriage. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and derived immense pleasure from spending time with those closest to him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lorene Schwede of Anderson, sons and daughter-in-law Gary and Diana Schwede of Lubbock, and Charles Schwede of Anderson; daughter Barbara Davis of Lubbock; brother-in-law Robert Longacre of Seven Points, TX; grandchildren Amanda Booth of Bryan, Lyndsey Christena of Austin, Erika North of Amarillo, Amy Beicker of Greenville, SC., Haley Diatto of Aledo and Marcus Davis of Midland; and seven great-grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Alma Schulz, Faye Stepp and Annie Mae Longacre; and brothers Alvin and Olen Schwede.
Serving as pallbearers are Alan Boehm of Sealey, Bob Schulz of El Paso, Bill Manor of Garland, Carl Longacre of Seven Points, Bill Boehm of Anderson and Hershel Perry, Jr., of Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Dana Boehm, Marcus Davis, Dr. Joshua North, Dr. Clint Beicker, Ben Diatto, Brandon Booth, Jonathan Christena and Christopher Palumbo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Navasota or Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson.
