January 19, 1957 - May 29, 2017
Juan “Rabbit” Martinez, 60 of Navasota, passed away Monday, May 29th at CHI St. Joseph Health Care in Bryan, Texas. Visitation with family and friends will be held at Nobles Funeral Chapel from 6:00 – 8:00pm, Friday, June 2nd with a prayer service at 7:00pm led by Rev. Henry Sanders. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel. Juan was born in Bryan, Texas on January 19, 1957 to Joe P. and Casimiria (Flores) Martinez. He married Kathy Nobles on March 10, 1979, and together they raised two children. Known as “Rabbit” to his friends, Juan worked at Ellwood Texas Forge of Navasota. He had a deep passion for horses and enjoyed riding anytime he could. His lifetime equine companion, Jimbo Joker, was his pride and joy. He lost Jimbo at the age of 32 a few years ago. He loved to go fishing and enjoyed being around “true” family. He collected firearms and loved target-shooting. He and his bride, Kathy, just celebrated 38 years of marriage. When time permitted, they could be found exploring flea markets. Making time for getting together with family during the holidays was always a priority. He never met a stranger and would always lend a helping hand to those in need. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Martinez; daughter Kassie Martinez and son and daughter-in-law Juan F., Jr. and Tiffany Martinez, all of Navasota; sisters Delia Rangel, Tommie Burten, Linda Martinez, Janie Reyes and Isabel Baldobino and husband Jimmy; brothers Jessie Martinez and Mariano Martinez and wife Bertha and sister-in-law Dell Martinez; grandson Derick Dominguez and step-granddaughters Gabrielle and Lauren Goodman. Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Rangel, Brian Rivera, Phillip Reyes, Jimmy Baldobino, Jr., Armando Vera, Ryan Loukanis, Mariano Martinez, Jr., and Armando Flores. Honorary pallbearers are Christopher Tejeda, Joseph Martinez, Raymond “Rudy” Reyes, Sammy Martinez, Mario Castillo and Cameron Martinez. Juan was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joe and Sam Martinez; sister Virginia Flores; and brothers-in-law Yno Rangel and Raymond Reyes.
