Katherine "Kathy" Fay Watson

November 9, 1947 — June 11, 2022

Katherine “Kathy” Fay Watson, 74, of Roans Prairie, passed away at home on Saturday, June 11th with her husband Tom Norton by her side, thus ending her challenges with Parkinson’s Disease. She was born in San Antonio, Texas to Paul Ellis Watson and Pearl Katherine (Fertsch) Watson on November 9, 1947. She attended Edison High School in San Antonio and then attended Rice University in Houston. In 1970, she married her first husband, Thomas “Tommy” B. Clapp and they raised his son from a former marriage, Jeffery Clapp, from age six to 18. A few years after Tommy and Kathy divorced, she married Thomas “Tom” Norton at their home in Roans Prairie in 1992.
Kathy worked at a variety of jobs in her early years, including being a Loan Officer at First Bank of Magnolia and managing a long-term parking lot at what is now known as Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport. She then worked as a Senior Accountant for Texas A&M University Engineering Experiment Station for many years, retiring from there about eight years ago. For over 25 years, she worked weekends at the Texas Renaissance Festival in Plantersville, many of those years tending to the money and doing bookkeeping for a major food and beverage vendor there. Through all of those positions, she came into contact with hundreds of people and was well known and respected for her work ethic in those work places as well as throughout the area.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-grandson, Brody Thomas Clapp. Kathy is survived by her husband Tom, half-sister Joyce Romig and her family, full sister Patricia “Patsy” Kuentz and her husband Alan Kuentz; step-son Jeffery Clapp and wife Darla and Kathy’s good friend (who was like a sister to her for well over 40 years) Joyce Floyd.
Kathy was a Christian who deeply loved her husband, her family, her friends and her dogs and cats. She will be greatly missed by all of us.
If you would like to make a contribution in her memory, please consider donating to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at www.michaeljfox.org .
