Margaret Blanche Cummins

Margaret Blanche Cummins, 87 of College Station (formerly of Navasota), passed away Wednesday, March 31st at her daughters home in College Station. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 7th at First United Methodist Church of Navaosta with lunch to follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Margaret was born Clarinda, Iowa on November 14, 1933 to Edward and Grace (Bruington) Morris. At the age of three, her mother passed away and her father moved the family to Pasadena, Texas, where she attended and graduated from high school. She married Boyce Cummins from Navasota and together they had three daughters. Margaret worked for Shell Oil until she retired and moved to Navasota, where she began working as the church secretary. Born with a servant’s heart, she was right at home, anticipating the needs of her church staff and community. She was a huge caretaker/provider personality, always working behind the scenes organizing and preparing. Margaret always wore a smile and everyone called her “Mema”… a title she cherished, especially from the lips of her beloved grandchildren. When her daughters were still at home, her house was the place to be, for she had an open door and always welcomed them all. She enjoyed baking, watching old movies and travelling with her sister. Holidays were always at her home and centered around the family she loved and treasured so much.
She is survived by daughters and son-in-law Grace and Richard Palculict, Elizabeth Payne and Tracy Baker; sister Marjorie Bradley; grandchildren Nathan and Christopher Paculict, Sam Payne, Sarah Payne Rogers and Rachel Payne, Clayton Baker, Daniel Baker, Brandi Baker, Cannon Baker and Sydney Baker and great-grandchildren Matthew, Isaac, Emma, Olivia, Vivian and Max.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a memorial contribution in her name be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or the Down Syndrome Association of the Brazos Valley.
