Randy "Shorty" Gurka

August 2, 1969 — December 21, 2020

Randy “Shorty” Gurka, 51 of Navasota, passed away Monday, December 21st at his home. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, December 26th at 11:00 am at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson with vistation beginning two hours prior to the service at 9:00 am. Rev. Eli Lopez will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Randy was born August 2, 1969 in Houston, Texas to Steve and Cecilia Gurka. The family moved to Grimes County and he attended and graduated from Anderson High School. He made his living as a carpenter. In his younger days, Randy enjoyed trailrides and raising calves with his father. He was an avid deer hunter and also enjoyed bass fishing. One of his favorite things to do was to ride the county roads. He was a jokester and liked keeping family and friends on their toes by sharing a good laugh. Randy recently fell in love – with his first and only grandchild. A precious little girl that he had hoped to spoil rotten.

Randy is survived by his mother, Cecilia Gurka; daughter Cecilia Ann Gurka; brothers and sisters-in-law Stephen and Linda Gurka, Danny and Marla Gurka and Robert Buscha; sister and brother-in-law Judy and Jimmy LeFlore and granddaughter Chloe Marie O'Dell.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steve Gurka, brother Rickey Gurka and his grandparents.

Serving as pallbearers are Rodney Sechelski, Peyton LeFlore, Stephen Gurka III, Tyler Gurka, Kevin Gurka and Wyatt Marek. Honorary pallbearers include George Kimich, Darrell Dietrich, Tommy “Pops” Jablonski, Chris Loukanis, Shane Leonard, and Darrin Derrick.
