Ms. Shawnee Allen

December 13, 1954 - May 15, 2016

Shawnee C. Allen, 61, of Navasota passed away Sunday, May 15th at her home. A celebration of her life will be held at a public graveside service at 11:00am, Friday, May 20th at Oakland Cemetery in Navasota. Rev. John Treude will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel. Shawnee was born on December 13, 1954 in Navasota to Kenneth and Doris (Zeiss) Allen. She spent her life working with special needs children and shared freely and unselfishly her gifts of patience, love and understanding with the children she taught. She touched so very many children throughout her life, at both the Texas Youth Commission and the public school system. She had recently retired from College Station ISD. She found a great deal of pleasure from the simpler things in life; a smile, a touch, time spent with loved ones, and beautiful sunsets. She was loved and adored by all who knew her. She is survived by her mother, Doris Allen of Navasota; Long-time companion and life partner Steve Powell of Navasota and a sister, Sandra Sledge of Bryan. Shawnee was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Allen. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that you consider a memorial donation to one of the following: Texas Children's Hospital 6621 Fannin, Houston, TX 77030 www.waystogive.texaschildrens.org; Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 www.shrinershopsitals.org/donate; M. D. Anderson Cancer Center for Children, P. O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210, Attn: Children's Cancer Research Memorials, www.gifts.mdanderson.org or the Youth Ministry at the church of your choice. Friends and family are encouraged to leave kind words and fond memories at www.noblesfuneral.com.
