Betty Jo Jones

Betty Jo Osborne Jones, 94 of Navasota passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness. “Grandma Betty” is remembered as the loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother of the Jones and Osborne families. Preceded in death by her husband William “Dub” Jones and son David Jones, Betty carried the family with dignity and strength. 

Betty will be remembered by all for her service to others and the community at large. She worked for many years at the Navasota Medical Center where she became a fixture of the clinic. Even today, former patients and staff remember Betty as a sweet and kind soul that was a well-loved part of the clinic family. In addition to her work at Navasota Medical Center, Betty served in the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 4006. Betty held numerous leadership positions and represented both the Post and the District at state conventions and events. She loved her work on behalf of the Post and would follow the activities of the group after becoming homebound. 

Betty was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was active for many years. 

To her family she was “Grandma Betty”, the person that was the glue of the family. Regardless of the occasion or situation she was there to lend a hand, a shoulder to cry on and kind words. Betty was all about family and enjoyed the company of the ever-growing gaggle of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Many of her happiest moments over the last few years were spent in her living room watching kids play and grow. She truly set the example of what it means to love and encourage family. She would constantly inquire about the wellbeing of her “kids” if she hadn’t seen them in a while, and was especially proud of their accomplishments in school and sports. 

Betty is survived by her son William (Corky) Jones (Laurie) and daughter Deborah Nobles Kehl, son Alan Jones (Linda) along with 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Additionally, Betty is survived by many other family and friends that loved and adored her. 

Graveside services will be at Friday August 28, 2026 at 10am at Oakland Cemetery in Navasota, Texas under the direction of Nobles Funeral Home. The Reverend C. McAlister “Mac” Vaughn will officiate. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Lukes Hospital The Woodlands (stroke unit) and the staff from Acara Hospice for taking such good care of Betty in her final days.
