Mr. Charles A. Ketchum, 75, of Navasota passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Grimes St. Joseph Health Center in Navasota. The family will receive visitors from 5-7pm Thursday, and funeral services are set for 10am Friday, both at Nobles Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Larrabee and Dr. Richard Walters officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery.
Charles was born in Navasota on December 1, 1936, the son of Dr. E.T. and Helen (Conrad) Ketchum. He married Betty Sue Brown in Navasota on August 16, 1968 and loved her for 43 years. He was a Master Mason, York Rite Mason, Knights of the York Cross of Honor, Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner. He was also a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Navasota and was one of the last decendents of Founders of First Baptist. He owned Elliot's Drug Store / Ketchum's Pharmacy from 1974 - 1995 and was a pharmacist from 1963 - 2009.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, E.T. Ketchum, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Ketchum of Navasota; daughters and sons-in-law, Kate and Stephen Miller and Carolyn and Michael Prescott, all of Navasota, and Karen and Randy Prince of Lubbock; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Dolores Ketchum of Hurst; sister, Harriet Ketchum of Canyon; grandchildren, Matthew and Marshall Miller, Shane, Celeste and Paige Prescott, Travis Sterling and wife Lindsey, and Morgan Prince; and special friends, Margie and Bill Morgan.
Serving as pallbearers are Gerald Purcell, Michael Prescott, Shane Prescott and John Haynie Stoneham, all of Navasota, Travis Sterling of Houston and Randy Prince of Lubbock. Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Miller, C.N. (Bud) Powell, Louis Sandidge, The 8 o'clock Coffee Bunch, Don Munoz and Raymond Acosta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the First Baptist Church of Navasota.
