Charlie was born on December 26, 1936, in Anderson, Texas, to Charlie and Sallie Mentlewski. He was the youngest of six children in a loving family. In 1976, Charlie married Alline Molitor, at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson, Texas where he was a life-long partitioner. Together, they were blessed with one child, Jeffrey.
Charlie was a dedicated carpenter throughout his life, known for his strong work ethic and steady hands. He amazed many with his talent to paint the interior of a house without faulter and never use a drop cloth or tape. He was also a beloved employee at the First National Anderson Bank, where he would enjoy visiting with others and talking about sports. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life – fishing, hunting and watching baseball, especially his favorite team – Astros.
Over the past several years, Charlie—affectionately known to all as “Jaja”—lived with his son, Jeffrey, and his family in Spring, Texas, where he cherished watching his grandchildren grow and created lasting memories with those he loved. Charlie passed his love of sports to both his grandchildren. His favorite pastime was updating his friends and family in Anderson on their latest basketball tournaments and activities.
Charlie is preceded in death by his wife Alline; his parents Charlie and Sallie Mentlewski; his brother John Mentlewski; his brother Arch Mentlewski and sister-in-law Mary; his sister Martha Sechelski and brother-in-law Tony; his brother Tony Mentlewski; his sister Gertrude Mentlewski and his sister-in-law Gertrude Molitor Bolton.
Left to cherish his memories are his son Jeffrey and wife Shetal; grandchildren: Kieran and Kasen; stepson: Lawrence Borski and family; stepson: Charles Borski and family; his brother-in-law Will Molitor and sister-in-law Florence Bay.
Honoring the life of Charlie as pallbearers are Charlie Mentlewski, Rusty Mentlewski, Dustin Yorek, Zane Moriarty, Clint Vezurk, and Larry Sechelski.
