Danny Bailey

Danny Bailey, 80, of Richards, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026. Visitation with family and friends will be held Thursday, March 26, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, at 10:00 AM at Shiro Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Kott officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in Richards Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Danny was born in Houston on January 20, 1946, to D.L. & Dorothy Bailey. He attended Mumford ISD and later graduated from Richards High School in 1960. Danny then began studying at Lamar College in Beaumont, then Texas A&M University, and finally ended up at Sam Houston State College where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Professional Vocational Trades & Industrial PR.

Danny was a member of the Carpenters and Joiners of America Local Union #1890 in Conroe from 1968-1988. He was a construction general contractor with Spawglass and worked multiple construction jobs as a superintendent. He worked at the TDC Wallace Pack Unit as a vocational instructor until retiring after 20 years.

Outside of work, Danny was a member of several organizations including the AQHA and the Grimes County Fair Association. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Past Master of Richards Lodge #1116. Danny was instrumental in the Bottom of the Barrel Cookers as well as the Foggy Bottom Bunch where he served as president and chief cook.

He married Margaret Johnson on March 10, 2007, and the couple enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time together. Danny was an avid hunter & outdoorsman and spent many years at the dear lease in Richards with Margaret, family, and friends. He was the proud father of George & Billy, and his love and dedication to them were valued and dear to his heart. Family and friends were dear to him, and he enjoyed spending time and staying in contact with everyone.

Danny is survived by his wife Margaret Bailey; sons & daughters-in-law, George & Jenny Bailey, Britthany Bailey, and Cort & Joan Norwood; daughter and son-in-law Rebecca & Brett Holtey; brother and sisters-in-law, Edgar Daniel & Darice Bailey and Libby Bailey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pamela & Ronnie Gambini and Sandra & Cut Out Nobles; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Adelia, and Joseph Holtey, Chelsea Flinn (Shannon), Casey Bailey, Courtny Weir (Mike), Paige Bielamowicz (Mitchell Rhodes), Coury Bielamowicz, Skye Sanchez, and Willow Bailey; great-granchildren, McKenzy, Dallas, and Cheyenne Flinn, Theo Sanchez, and Claire Weir; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Billy Bailey; brother Jimmy Bailey; niece Victoria Gambini-Callihan; and grandparents, George & Kate McGinnis.

Serving as pallbearers are George Bailey, Mitchell Nesmith, Juan Allen, Jim Douga, Elizabeth Holtey, Adelia Holtey, Joseph Holtey, and Brett Holtey. Honorary pallbearers include Van Rigby, Jan Matchett, Bill Boyce, Al McGinnis, Larry McGinnis, Red Duchan, David Evans, Mike Marafine, and Coury Bielamowicz.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shiro Baptist Church or Richards Masonic Lodge #1116.
