David Dickson, Jr., earned his heavenly wings on Monday, March 2, 2026.
David was born to David Sr. and Vernel on January 9, 1938, in Anderson, TX. He graduated from Richards High School in 1955. He enrolled in Texas Southern University and left his studies to join the United States Air Force. After his service, he returned to Texas Southern University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
David moved to Anderson, TX, with his family and lived his best country life. He enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, gardening, and hunting. His hunting trips always included his famous chili (spicy). He worked in various roles throughout his life in Grimes County. Upon his retirement, he continued to work. He enjoyed being a substitute teacher for Navasota ISD, Anderson ISD, and his beloved Iola ISD.
David was preceded in death by his parents, David Sr. and Vernel Dickson; his wife, Sequeta Dickson; and his brothers, James, Nathan, Vernice, and Gene.
He is survived by his children, Tanya, Anton, and Edward; grandchildren, Ramon, Rana, Cameron and his wife Shanisha, Darius, La’Treva; great-grandchildren, Khalia, Kimiko, Kyrie, Alexander, and Delaney; special and dear family friends, Mike and Hattie Raska and family, Keith and Lisa Thompson and family, and Mark McGinty and family; host of nieces and nephews, family members, and numerous friends and Iola ISD whom he cared for immensely. Thank you to Navasota Nursing and Rehab and Remarkable Hospice for taking care of our Dad. Thank you to Iola ISD for loving our Dad.
Serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are: Ramon Banks, Edward Moore, Anton Moore, Mike Raska, Keith Thompson, Jeffrey Dickson, Cameron Moore, Darius Thompson, and Mark McGinty.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 AM with Steven Breedlove officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Kennard Cemetery with military honors by the VFW and American Legion. Services are entrusted to Nobles Funeral Chapel. Repast will be offered after the service and interment at Country Hill Tabernacle of Praise (C Top) at 817 West Washington, Navasota, TX.
