Donald Ray "D.R." Stutts

January 23, 1935 — July 13, 2022

Donald "D.R." Stutts, 87 of Plantersville, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, July 13th. A graveside service will be planned for 10:00 am, Friday, July 15th at Plantersville Cemetery with Rev. Rommie Lavergne officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
D. R. was born in Madisonville, Texas on January 23, 1935 to William Roy and Annie Viola (Massey) Stutts. He attended Navasota schools and graduated Salutatorian in 1953. He met and married Virginia Smith in May of 1972 and together they had two sons. D. R. owned and operated a dairy until 1973 and then went to work as a lead mechanic for Tomball Ford for many years until his retirement in 1997. Not one to sit still, D.R. worked on the farm, tending his cattle, working on the tractors and spending time on the land and keeping busy. D.R. was the epitome of a family man. He was an excellent father and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his sons and their friends while they were growing up. He was a devoted husband and wonderful provider with a heart of gold. D.R. was a quiet man of few words, but rest assured that when he spoke, it was worth listening to. He worked diligently throughout his life to provide for his family and to provide a college education to each of his sons. He loved spending time with the grandchildren and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, all the way back to the Tom Landry days And…he never missed watching wrestling on television, either (you couldn’t convince him that it wasn’t real)!
D.R. is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Nikki Stutts and William Ray and Kinsey Stutts; brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Nelda Stutts and four grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Jonathan Vaughn, Ryan Cole Stutts, Will Keyser, Travis Cobb, David “Bull” Keyser, Chuck Collins, Wayne Smith and Thomas Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Marlin Reid Stutts and Robert William Stutts.
