Edna Mae was born to her parents Walter Lee and Ester Ernestine Taylor Reed, in Georgetown, Texas, on Tuesday, December 15, 1931. Edna Mae graduated high school. She worked as a cook in various restaurants. She was an amazing cook at whatever she desired. Her life passion was her flower gardens and vegetables. She harvested mostly to share with family and friends. When not in the garden she could be found relaxed baking the best pies in the area. Her canned figs were the highlight of the neighborhood. Mother would rather watch her PEAS grow, than take a vacation. When not in her garden or cooking, Edna enjoyed playing dominoes at the community center with friends, which led to fierce battles and competition amongst friends and others at the community center.
Preceding her in death are her husband, James Thomas (Jake) Reed, Jr.; her parents, Walter and Ester Crocker; her brothers, LeRoy and Olen Cocker; and four sisters-in-law.
Surviving Edna Mae are her children Darrell Reed, of Iola; her daughter, Debbie Vaughn and husband Butch; her brother Ceciel Crocker, of Bryan; her grandchildren, Fallon Garcia and husband Justin Garcia, and John Vaughn; great-grandchildren, Brooke Garcia, Jax Garcia, Brendan Vaughn, Tucker McKinney, and Aiden Vaughn; great great-granddaughter Willow Vaughn; her beloved nieces and nephews, and her lifelong friend since grade school, Ms. Emma Hamil.
