Gene Allen Nichols, was born to his parents, Arthur Allen and Elsie Octavie Clark Nichols, on Tuesday, January 23, 1940, in Navasota, Texas. His 86 years were filled with much love for the outdoors. He married his high school sweetheart, Doris Jackson, not long before enlisting in the Army. He was stationed in Germany where his first of four children were born. Gene carried a love of country and patriotism throughout his life. He loved to hunt and fish, which occupied much of his time and took him on many adventures. He was a brick mason by trade, which made it easy to follow his love of the great outdoors, moving his family to beautiful Montana in 1977. Gene eventually made it back to Texas where he and Patsy Williams began their life together and resided in Millican, Texas for the past 35 years. He loved to garden, raise chickens, put on a fish fry with homemade root beer, harvest pecans and share them with family and friends. There was never a dull moment around Gene. He loved to tell a story or two that you weren’t quite sure was 100 percent accurate but sure sounded good! Many of those who knew him best have already passed on. No doubt, there is quite a reunion going on in heaven right now with many more elaborate stories being told! He will surely be missed.

Gene is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Doris Fern Jackson; wife, Patsy Ruth Williams; parents, Arthur and Elsie Nichols; brother, Darrell Brian Nichols; sister, Sharon Lynn Nichols; two sons, Willard Allen Nichols and Warren Dean Nichols; niece, Victoria Lynn Uilkie; and grandsons, Derek Allen Nichols and Jared Dean Nichols.

Gene Allen is survived by his daughters, Jeannice Shiver (Jeff) and Jana Henderson (Duane); brothers, Billy Nichols, Travis Nichols, Bobby Nichols, Ronnie Nichols and Arthur Morris Nichols; 12 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
