Hazle (Schaefer) Purvis

Hazle Schaefer Purvis, 88, of Iola, TX passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at her residence. Private, family services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, with Rev. Jeff Morgan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel, of Navasota, TX.

Hazle was born in Uvalde, TX on March 10, 1935, to Edward and Frances Bell Schaefer. Hazle was proud of her Texas roots, and her big family, being raised with seven siblings. Hazle married the love of her life, Ben Purvis, on July 15, 1963, and moved to Iola, where they spent the rest of their lives.

The greatest joy in Hazle's life was her family. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, shopping trips with her sisters, and supporting her community. She served on the Ladies' Auxiliary of the American Legion of Iola for many years. Hazle is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Hazle is proceded in death by her parents, Edward and Frances Schaefer; her husband, Ben Purvis; her son, Arthur Barnett, Jr; and her siblings, Edward Schaefer, Jonelle Schutter, Dee Dodd, Lois Elder, Lorraine Perkins, and Opal Mabry.

Hazle is survived by her brother, Edward Schaefer, and wife Eula; grandchildren, Chris Barnett, and wife Moriah, Tanya Hudnall, and husband Jimmy, and Ben Barnett; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Templeton, Colby Hudnall, Micayla Smith, Madison Hudnall, Justin Barnett, Zachary Barnett, Chelsea Barnett, Emily Barnett, Savannah Barnett, Summer Barnett, and Liberty Barnett; nine great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, who will all miss her dearly.
