Larry Cantu Jr., was born in Victoria, Texas to his parents, Hilario Cantu Sr., and Anita Cristelia Soliz, on Thursday, June 25, 1959. Larry began working at an early age, 14, to help support his family. He was employed at Lacks Furniture. His strong work ethic continued thru his years. He was employed and retired with TDCJ after thirty-six and half years.
A forever true love story began when Larry met Jayne Marie. She was working at a convenient store where Larry became a regular customer. Larry claims he was “to shy” to ask Jayne out so she eventually asked him out on a date and the rest his history. He and Jayne Marie married on June 25, 1990, as a promise never to forget their wedding date. Together Larry and Jayne created a house into a loving home where they would welcome their children Hilario, Nikki, and Genny, and their wonderful grandchildren.
Larry enjoyed taking the family on vacations in their earlier years. He developed a love for fishing and enjoyed taking his son and sons-in-law and all the family to fish at Kathy and Roy’s cabin pond.
Preceding Larry in death are his father, Hilario Cantu Sr., and his mother, Anita Hunt; and his sister Irma Rodriquez.
Larry’s legacy continues today through his wife of nearly 36 years, Jayne Marie Cantu; his son Hilario Cantu III and wife Sara Cantu; his daughter Nikki Karakos and wife Kim Karakos, his daughter, Genny Hall and husband Cheyenne Hall; his four beautiful grandchildren Michael, Cheian, Aniyah, and Ethan; his four brothers and four sisters; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
