Mr. Jim Bob Bennatt

December 11, 1932 — February 16, 2023

Jim Bob Bennatt, 90, passed away February 16, 2023. Services for Jim Bob will be held at Richards United Methodist Church on Monday, February 27th at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ben Tibbs officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Fellowship to follow at Richards Methodist Church.

Jim Bob was a proud Texas native and a proud descendent of the “Old 300” settlers who received land grants from Austin’s first Colonial contract in Mexican Texas. He was born at home in Richards, Texas. He was an active member of Richards United Methodist Church. He graduated high school from Richards High School. After graduating from Sam Houston State University, he married and immediately joined the US Army. After an honorable discharge from the Army in December 1955, he began his life long career in the oilfield. His career took him and his family overseas in 1963, to living in Tripoli, Libya, North Africa until 1973, and then on to Jakarta, Indonesia in Southeast Asia. Later, he went on to live in Greece and Iran before moving to Houston, Texas to finish his career.

Jim Bob had vivid stories to tell of all his adventures living internationally and domestic. He was an interesting tower of information and will be sorely missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin “Ben” G. Bennatt and Sudie Post Bennatt; brother, Benjamin G. “BG” Bennatt; and sister, Suevelyn “Sis” Bennatt Davis.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Jim “Bobby” Bennatt and daughter-in-law, Laura Ruth Bennatt; daughter, Barbara Sue Bennatt Lansford and son-in-law, Donald “Donny” G. Lansford; and son, Benjamin “Ben” G. Bennatt and daughter-in-law, Conni Bennatt.

His memory is carried on as well by grandchildren Landon Addison Lansford, Nicole Lansford Anable, Brianna Michelle Lansford, Dylan Bennatt and Brittany Bennatt; four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
