Jim (Juanquin Valdez Ostiguin) Ostigin, 85, of Navasota, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. Visitation with family and friends will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Christ Our Light Catholic Church with a rosary immediately following at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Christ Our Light Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will immediately follow in Courtney Cemetery with Rev. Giovanni Nguyen as the celebrant. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Jim was born to his parents, Theodore and Fermana Ostigin, on the Allen Farms in Brazos County on Wednesday, August 16, 1939.
Jim enjoyed dancing, working and spending time with his family. He loved his grandchildren very much and was a great grandpa. He worked in landscaping for years. He loved making tamales and chicharrons with his wife Frances. He loved his old western movies and would sit all day and watch old cowboy movies. He loved Ranching and was a jack of all trades.
He was married to Frances for 44 years.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Theodore and Fermana; first wife, Fidela Ramirez Ostigin; son, Jauquin Ostigin Jr.; siblings, Victor Ostiguin Sr., Jose Ostiguin, Ben Ostiguin, Virgina Cruz, Herminia DeAnda, Adam Valdez, Gene Valdez, Benina Lira, Andrea Arismendez, Juan Ostigin, Eustacio Ostigin Sr., Elijah Ostigin Sr. and Theodore Ostiguin Jr.
Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Frances Ostigin; children Lisa Kay Garcia, Theodore Ostigin, Andrea and husband Sammy Perez Jr., Manuel Flores II, and Venessa Ostigin and fiancé Vannessa Camarillo; sisters, Augustina Arnold and Eva Ostigin; grandchildren, Jauquin Estevan and wife Jacqueline Hsu Garcia, Fidela Renee Garcia, Melissa Desiree and husband Joe Lewis, Clemente Garcia III and husband Jesus Valdez, Christina Elizabeth and husband Luis Torres Jr., Shelby Lynn Ostigin, Jessica Marie Ostigin, Theodore Ostigin Jr., Sammy Perez III, Aaliyah Perez, Anthony Perez, Elayna Perez, Juan Manuel Flores Jr., Joseph Flores; great grandchildren, Juliana Kay Garcia, Jauquin Estevan Garcia II, Adriana Renee Price, Desiree Eliana Canell, Darius Joe Canell, Akario Eugene Lewis, Alina Lee Lewis, Adrian Hernandez, Aubriana McKenith, Azara McKenith, Isaiah Torres, Xavier Torres; AJ Perez, Laiya Perez, Remi Perez and Lejen Curtis; and other relatives and close friends.
Honoring Jim’s life as Pallbearers are Sammy Perez III, Sammy Perez Jr., Anthony Perez, Alex Ostiguin Jr., Juaquin (Ken) Garcia, and Larry Magnus.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are A.J Perez, Venessa Ostigin, Lisa Kay Garcia and Manuel Flores II.
