JoAnn
Cole
August 20, 1936 – May 7, 2026
JoAnn Lane Cole, 89, of Bedias, Texas, went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2026, in Conroe, Texas. Her celebration of life will be held at Champion Forest North Klein Church, 4515 Spring Stuebner Road, Spring, Texas on Tuesday, May 12, with visitation at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am. The ceremony will be officiated by Rev. Jeremy Tennery, minister of Stone Creek Fellowship in Huntsville, Texas. Graveside will be held at 2:00 pm at Courtney Cemetery in Navasota, Texas.
JoAnn was born to James Seth and Arna Mae Mize Lane in Madisonville, Texas on August 20, 1936. Growing up in the Houston area, she went to Jefferson Davis High School, and her family attended Memorial Baptist Church where she met Thomas Cole, the future love of her life. JoAnn worked approximately five years at Houston Lighting and Power before boarding a plane for the very first time to fly to Honolulu, Hawaii where Thomas was stationed at Pearl Harbor in the United States Navy. Upon arriving in Hawaii, they were quickly married to begin their almost 61 years together. Through the course of their marriage, they lived in Louisiana, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, Massachusetts, and various locations within Texas. As a pastor’s wife, she was a housewife, mother, grandmother aka Maee, and at various times a pre-school teacher. It goes without saying that she was an exceptional cook. However, she was particularly known for her fried okra and salsa. In recent years, she faithfully attended Stone Creek Fellowship and Champion Forest North Klein where she was ministered to and loved by all. JoAnn was a woman known for her strong faith in God as she always sought to follow God’s direction and seek His will. She had the gift of encouragement and a smile that could accomplish that without words.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 61 years, Thomas Arno Cole, their son, Timothy Lane Cole, her parents, two brothers, Jerry Lee Lane, Sr., and Gerald Wayne Lane, and two sisters, Geraldine Lane Bradshaw and Shirley Lane Lacey.
She is survived by her three children: son, Michael Wayne and wife Susan Cole of Riverside, daughter, Joni Lei and husband Cody Townsend of Little Elm, son, John Stephen and wife Shelley Cole of Spring, one sister, Imogene Lane Robertson, eight wonderfully loved grandchildren: Joshua Michael Cole and wife Amanda, Joel Matthew Cole and wife Amy, Cameron Lane Cole, Landri Lei Townsend, Cason Seth Cole, Caibri Lauren Cole, Drew Thomas Townsend and Tyler Allen Townsend, and five great-grandchildren: Layla Mae Cole, Lila Cathern Cole, Nolan Beggs, Cole Beggs and Andrew Beggs as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Serving as Pallbearers are Joshua Michael Cole, Joel Matthew Cole, Cameron Lane Cole, Cason Seth Cole, Drew Thomas Townsend, and Jerry Lee Lane, Jr.
The family expresses its gratitude to the staff of First Choice Hospice Care and Lewis Park Estates for providing support, love, and compassionate care to JoAnn.
