LaRue McGary, 82, of College Station, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026, in Bryan. Graveside services will begin at 10am, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in Old Oakland Cemetery, Roans Prairie. Services are in the care of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
LaRue was born to her parents Gerald and Eula Bernell McMahon, in Harlingen, Texas on Thursday, December 30, 1943.
Her dreams came true when she met and married her husband, George McGary on July 16, 1966. Together, LaRue and George built a family, welcoming two children, James and Cynthia. She was a devoted mother, but her heart found its greatest fulfillment in her role as a grandmother. LaRue leaves behind a legacy of warmth and hospitality, best remembered through the gift of her “world-famous” enchiladas. She was an adventurous cook who loved nothing more than preparing meals for those she held dear and testing out new recipes. A lover of simple pleasures, LaRue enjoyed the refreshment of a cold root beer, the indulgence of a good chocolate pie, and the quiet beauty of sunflowers. Above all, she carried a special fondness for cardinals, often finding peace in their presence.
Her parents, Gerald and Bernell, brother Gerald McMahon, and granddaughter Camryn Tracy Copeland, all precede her in death.
LaRue’s legacy will continue through her husband of just shy of 60 years, George Allen McGary; her son James and wife Shelby McGary; her daughter Cynthia and husband William Copeland; her adored grandchildren Sierra and husband River Roberts, Delayne and husband Logan Rodrick, Ronan Rodrick; Colton and fiancée Chasity McGary, Lily Copeland, and Hunter McGary; her nephews and nieces, and other family members and close friends.
Honoring LaRue’s life as Pallbearers are Colton McGary, Hunter McGary, River Roberts, William Copeland, Nick Bancroft, and Logan Rodrick.
