Laurie Ezell McIntyre, born May 18, 1930, in Hull, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on August 22, 2022.
She graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School and attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, where she was a member of the Phi Mu sorority and earned a BA in English. She then attended UT Austin and received a Master’s degree in Education.
Laurie married her college sweetheart, Thomas McIntyre from Navasota, Texas. They lived in Hempstead, then Navasota where she taught 4th grade. In 1962, they moved to Houston and opened Laurie’s Fashions, a successful ladies apparel shop in Pasadena. They raised their two children, Myra and Mike, in the Memorial area before retiring to Walden on Lake Conroe in 1990. Tom and Laurie were happily married for 55 years.
Laurie is preceded in death by her parents Gus and Carrie Mae McIntyre and stepfather RJ Champagne, her husband Thomas McIntyre, and her daughter Myra McIntyre Botsford. She is survived by her son Mike McIntyre, his wife Brenda, her grandchildren Carrie and Charlie McIntyre, and her 2 therapy dogs, Ruester and Annie McIntyre.
A graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Navasota, Texas on August 31st, 2022, at 11:00AM. A celebration of Laurie’s life will follow at the Walden Golf Club Café on the Green at 12:00PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
