Marvin Struckmeyer

Marvin Struckmeyer, 88, of Navasota, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, in Navasota. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church at 9:00 AM with funeral services immediately following at 10:00 AM with Pastor Matthias Dinger officiating services. Interment will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Services are entrusted to Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Marvin was born in Cedar Hill Community of Washington County, on Tuesday, August 31, 1937, to his parents Henry and Minnie Gaskamp Struckmeyer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. Marvin attended Cedar Hill grade school and was a 1955 graduate of Brenham High School. On Sept. 28, 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, Verna Mae Bormann. They shared 67 yrs. of marriage. They had two wonderful children, Alan and Cathleen. They were blessed with 5 grandsons and 4 great-grandchildren.

He worked for Maddox Furniture Co. in Brenham, TX out of high school. In 1962, he and his family moved to Navasota to work for Washington National Insurance Co. for 28 years. He was known as the “Insurance Man” in Navasota and surrounding communities. After retiring from insurance, he and Verna opened Slim’s Auctioneering Co. He did estate auctions for families in the surrounding towns. That led him and Verna to open Granny’s Corner Antiques in downtown Navasota.

Marvin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Navasota, TX. He loved serving in the men’s club from helping with Easter sunrise breakfast to making hamburgers for fundraising. He loved BBQ, going to antiques auctions, gardening, hunting and fishing.

His loving family who survives him: Wife Verna Mae Struckmeyer; daughter Cathleen Otto of Plano; daughter-in-law Linda Struckmeyer of Florida; grandhchildren Andrew Struckmeyer (Gaby) of Brookshire; Aaron Struckmeyer (Alex) of Florida; Austin Struckmeyer (Loren) of Florida. Plus 4 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marvin is preceded in death by: his parents, Alan (son), James Ott (son-in-law), Matthew and Bradley Ott (grandsons), Allyne and Gilbert Weiss (sister and brother-in-law), Robert Bormann (brother-in-law).

Pallbearers are Andrew Struckmeyer, Aaron Struckmeyer, Austin Struckmeyer, Rodney Weiss, Scott Bormann, and Kurt Kolkhorst.

Honorary Pallbearers: John Brinkmeyer, Don Struckmeyer, David Buck, Thomas Finke, Wayne Ganske, and Willie Leiber.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church Preschool 1530 East Washington Ave. Navasota, TX 77868.
