Modesta Villegas

Modesta Villegas, 72, of Navasota, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024, in her home. 

Her family requested they celebrate her life on her birthday of 73 years; with a visitation beginning at 10am, followed by her Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 am, Saturday, August 10, 2024, both at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Modesta was born on August 10, 1951, in the state of Michoacan, Mexico, to her parents Raul and Lidia Gama. 

Modesta or as we knew her “Guerita” was a very devoted spouse with a deep sense of respect for her husband; and although she did not have a formal business education she was a very hardworking and tenacious business woman. She was an excellent cook who never hesitated to share her delicious recipes with anybody that would ask her for one. That is the type of person that she was, generous, kind, humble, and sincere but with a witty sense of humor.

We are so grateful and honored to have shared some of our most memorable moments with her. We will forever cherish these beautiful memories of her and will continue to be inspired by her strong faith and her steadfast devotion to Our Blessed Mother Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Preceding her in death are her parents Raul and Lidia Gama. 

She is survived by her husband, Felipe Villegas; her children Clemencia, Lorenzo, Arturo, Ciro, Verónica, Carlos, Tania, Itzel, and Ana. Veronica Lawson- Daughter, John Lawson- Son in law, Grandchildren- Audrey Lawson, Kamaile Ortega Pineda, Diana Ortega Pineda, Pedro Ortega Pineda; Great grandchildren- Khari Lawson, Arlo Ortega, Avery Ortega, Briella Ortega, Claire Ortega, Aurora Hernandez. Her stepsons and step daughters-in-law Eric, Marco and Maria Villegas, Orlando and Olga Villegas, Alex and Sheila Villegas, Step-grandchildren Mark, Sophia, Julian, Cristian and Michael.

Honoring her life as Pallbearers are Lorenzo, Eric, Orlando, Marco, Mark, and Julian.
