Phil will be buried at Old Waverly Cemetery in New Waverly, Texas. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Phil was born on July 11, 1948, in Navasota, Texas, to Arthur and Jo Pratt. He began his career with Hughes Tool Company in Houston, where he worked for many years before returning to Anderson to open Pratt’s Fly By Night BBQ restaurant. If you knew Phil, you know he had skills at the pit. His secret chili recipe, brisket, and ribs were well-known, and it was no surprise to anyone when he placed among the top competitors at numerous cook-off competitions.
An avid outdoorsman, Phil loved to hunt, and some of his fondest memories came from his yearly trips to Missouri and elk hunting in Colorado and Utah with his son and hunting buddies. He also cherished the summer road trips across the U.S. that he took with his older brother, Charles, and these special adventures became the legendary PBRT: the “Pratt Boys Road Trip.” Phil treasured these moments, as well as any opportunity to spend time with his family and friends which usually included sitting on his front porch or by the campfire.
Phil is survived by his son, Philip “JR” Pratt; his daughters, Cassie Pullig and husband Scott; and Tricia Littell. Grandchildren: Brandon Pullig and wife, Allison; Dylan Pullig; William Pratt; Dillon Schulz and wife Bailey; and Patrick Littell. One Great-Grandchild: Lainey Schulz. He is also survived by his brother, Charles Pratt and he is preceded in death by his wife, Illiene Pratt.
Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Pullig, Dylan Pullig, William Pratt, Dillon Schulz, Patrick Littell and Tony Goss.
