Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 14, 2025, at First Baptist Church. Interment services will immediately follow in Independence Cemetery with Rev. Born in Brownwood, Texas, in 1941, Rebecca lived a life filled with faith, laughter, adventure, and deep devotion to her family and friends. After graduating from college, she went on to teach for 43 years, remaining a passionate advocate for education throughout her life.
She is survived by her sisters Katherine Eskew (John Flemming), Raylynn Orsack (Sonny Orsack), and Evelyn Allen (David Allen), and by her brother Raymond Drews Jr. (Kathy Drews), nieces and nephews Kimberly, Karla, Kathy, Michael, Josh, Jeremy, Philip, Mark, Brandi and Chelsie as well as all of her beloved great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Raymond Drews; her mother, Trixie Drews; and her sister, Vicky Davis (Dennis Davis).
Rebecca was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved as her own. She never hesitated to remind them when they were being “rude, crude, or socially unacceptable,” or to declare that it was “time to shut it down.” Yet she also knew how to make life fun; singing and clapping along to music while eating oatmeal behind the wheel, or loading up her nieces every summer for new adventures visiting family and sightseeing.
A true original, Rebecca pioneered half-birthday celebrations, cherished animals of all kinds, and maintained her signature style; she never seemed to age and always looked fabulous. She loved an adventure and treasured the memory from the trip of a lifetime rafting down the Rio Grande with her brother Ray. An avid reader and lifelong learner, she could always be found with a newspaper in hand — and if you were lucky enough to know her, you probably received a clipping or two in the mail. She would be delighted to know that this obituary will be clipped and tucked into family binders in her honor.
Rebecca was practical, witty, and full of perseverance. She knew how to stretch a dollar. Brookshire Brothers dreaded seeing her coming with the sales flyer in hand! She faced every challenge with strength and determination, remaining steadfast in her faith until the end.
Rebecca was the heart of her family; a guiding light, a source of joy, and a true matriarch. She will be dearly missed and forever loved.
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” — James 1:12
