Anderson

Riley Monroe Foster Freeman, 16, of Anderson, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2026. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Sunday, October 18 at 2:30 PM in the cafeteria of the Anderson-Shiro Junior/Senior High School.

Riley was born on September 29, 2010 in College Station, Texas. He was his mother's "Mini Me" from the start. His beautiful auburn hair was his defining feature, for which many people called him "Lil Red". He was always a bright, thoughtful, and caring soul who could be very pensive in one moment and turn around to crack the funniest joke the next moment. His interests included fishing, baseball, playing music (including the saxophone, guitar, and drums) and video games...but mainly fishing. Riley was very much a country boy at heart who loved animals with a special fondness for cats and horses. He shared an especially close bond with his girl Leia, a sweet grey kitty who spent most every night cuddled up in Riley’s bed. His career ambition was to attend a technical school to become a professional welder. He would have surely excelled at that, just as he did at most everything else.

Riley was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Gail Yvonne Boone, Addie Ardell Borski, Walter Victor Borski, and Thurman Allie Foster, grandparents William “Papa” Foster and Tracy “Gigi” Krumrey, and cousin Ty Matthew Foster. He is survived by his mother Somer Foster Zimmer, stepfather Marcus Zimmer, brother Christopher Richardson (Brenda, and daughter Millie), brother Jackson Sanchez, aunt Amy Foster, uncle Matt Foster (Lori), aunt Andrea Krumrey, uncle Mason Zimmer (Ashley), great-grandparents Latham “Didi” Boone III, Anne “Mamaw” Moody, and Merle “Papa” Duncan, grandparents Randall “Grandy” Krumrey, Burgunde “Yaya” Kirk, Kenny “Grumpy Gramps” Zimmer (Melanie), cousins Tucker and Parker Foster, Olivia and Owen Zimmer, special second cousin "Aunt Marcy" Pavlock, as well as many, many more loved ones. Riley leaves behind many close friends through school, sports, and band. He will be remembered for his great attitude, his smile, his great talent, and of course, his red hair. He is missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

To honor Riley's love of animals, the family welcomes donations in lieu of flowers to the Grimes County Animal Rescue in Riley’s memory.
