Russell Scott Green, 62 of Richards, passed away Saturday, August 20th at CHI St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan, Texas. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Monday, August 29th at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of his life will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Kenny Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Houston National Cemetery at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 30th with military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Russell was born in Longview, Texas on July 13, 1960 to Ronald and Martha (Brewer) Green. Following high school, Russell joined the U. S. Navy and proudly served his country. He spent the majority of his enlisted time aboard submarines and loved it. He has been a member of the USSVI Brazos Valley Sub Vets for several years. He married Kimberly Cleveland in Anderson on November 24, 2003. Russell worked in the Oil and Gas industry on oil rigs to support his family. Russell loved spending time with his family, hunting and road trips. He and Kim dreamed of the day they could travel the country in an RV. Russell was fiercely devoted to his family and friends. He would gladly have taken a bullet for those he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly "Kim" Green; mother Martha "Polly" Green; sons Stephen and Anthony Walker; daughters and son-in-law Christine Green, Kayley and Joshua Hawkins, Kara Green, Catherine Hickman, and Michelle Hickman; brother Steven Green and grandchildren Savanah, Riley and JoLynn.
Russell was preceded in death by his father Ronald Green and grandparents Celia Smith, Alford Smith, Jay Green and Maryalice Green.
