Mrs. Shirley Gorney Bailey

April 13, 1969 — August 6, 2018

Shirley Gorney Bailey, 49 of Stoneham passed away Monday, August 6th at Scott and White hospital in College Station. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, August 8th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stoneham. A parish rosary will follow at 7:00 pm. A mass celebrating her life will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, August 9th, also at the church. Rev. Edward C. Kucera will officiate. Rite of Committal will be in the church cemetery. Arrangments are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Shirley was born in Navasota on April 13, 1969 to William and Mary Ann (Fridye) Gorney. She graduated from Navasota High School in 1987 and married George Bailey on August 7th, 1993. Together they had two daughters, Casey and Chelsea. She owned Lazy B Catering, and also worked at Trinity, Glenn Fuqua, Inc., and First National Bank of Anderson. She loved to cook, hunt and fish and preferred being outdoors. Shirley loved her family, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Shirley never gave up, and was always a fighter.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 25 years, George Bailey of Stoneham; daughters Casey Lynn Bailey and Chelsea Ann Bailey, both of Stoneham; granddaughter McKenzy Ann Bailey; parents William and Mary Gorney of Stoneham; sister and brother-in-law, Michelle Gorney Baldwin and husband Gary of Pflugerville; grandmother Clara Fridye of Stoneham, niece Brooklyn Baldwin and nephew Christopher Baldwin.

Serving as pallbearers are John Flores and J. J. Nienstedt, both of Navasota; Blake Burzynski of Roans Prairie; Christopher Baldwin of Pflugerville; Jimmy Campbell of Cypress and Nathan Moy of Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers are Gary Baldwin, Matt Jauer, Melvin Carter, Daniel Wagner and Chris Sechelski.

Shirley was preceded in death by her grandfather, Anton Fridye; grandparents John and Cecelia Gorney and nephew Jakob Baldwin.
