Mr. Solon Douglas Coleman

March 1, 1955 — August 25, 2023

Mr. Solon Douglas Coleman, 68, passed away in Quito, Ecuador on August 25, 2023. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 18, at 11:AM. The service will be held at the AA club, 8373 Westview Dr., Houston, TX 77055. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Navasota Texas at 4:00PM.

Doug was born on March 1, 1955, in St. Louis Mo. to Dr. and Mrs. L.O. Coleman of Navasota, Texas.

Doug Coleman graduated from Sam Houston University in Huntsville Texas and completed his Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Houston. He taught in the Aldine school district for 22 years. Doug loved to spend time with his family and with his good friends and comrades’ at the 8373 AA in Houston. Doug was an avid art collector and loved to see family travel, ski, and soak in the Hot Springs. In 2022 Doug moved to Ecuador where he fulfilled his dream of travel and experienced the beauty and culture of this incredible country.

He was preceded in death by Dr. Leonard Outlar Coleman, Patsy Hardison LaLonde and his step-mother Carole Johnson Coleman.

He is survived by brother Hardison Coleman, brother Todd LaLonde, sister Patricia Coleman Nelson(Craig), sister Jessie Lalonde Whitesides(Bill), and sisters Caren Coleman Elms, Christine Coleman Loftis and Connie Coleman.

Doug loved spending time with, and spoiling, his nephews, and nieces. Marga Prouty, Abraham Coleman and Rosie Coleman, Coleman Nelson, Caleb Nelson, Cameron Nelson, Wade Larson, Erin Appling, Christopher Whitesides, Austin Elms, Hunter Elms, Cole Elms, Haley Loftis Daniels, Reed Loftis, Anne Ealy, Robin Ealy, Maggie Ealy, Chambers and Jack Ealy, also Doug cherished his time with and adored his great nephews and nieces, Avery Larson, Ella Larson, Cail Nelson, Rylie Nelson, Harlow Appling and Owen Appling. We will and do love and miss him dearly.

Contributions, in memory of Solon Douglas Coleman, can be sent to his AA club, at 8373 Westview Dr. Houston, TX 77055. Doug devoted much of his life and love, to this group.
